About
Keni Arts
For decades, Keni Arts has captured the essence of the world through his brushstrokes, painting "en plein air" (outdoors) in places as diverse as the rugged landscapes of America, the vibrant colors of Africa, the lush coastlines of Brazil, the storied streets of England and Germany, and the spirited vistas of Mexico. However, it is in the Denas—Altadena and Pasadena—where his heart and easel have always found a home.
This special region of California, nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, is where Keni's artistic journey truly flourished. Known for their rich variety of architectural styles and diverse cultural tapestry, the Denas offer endless inspiration and beauty. It is this landscape, with its quiet neighborhoods and grand historical landmarks, that Keni has lovingly painted for decades.
Beauty For Ashes — Series
On January 7, 2025, Altadena was ravaged by the devastating Eaton Fire. Over 9,000 houses and businesses were lost, including his home of 38 years. Many of the cherished sites were scenes Keni had previously painted. As the flames consumed the landscape, Keni found himself at a crossroads, facing both destruction and renewal.
Keni’s resilience and devotion to his craft have brought him back to Altadena, determined to honor the memory of the places lost and witness the transformation of his community. He has begun a poignant new series, “Beauty For Ashes,” which documents the landscapes and structures of Altadena as they are today—forever changed, yet still beautiful in their new form, soon to rise from the ashes.
From Flames to Foundations
The body of work is more than an artistic endeavor; it’s a tribute to the spirit of renewal, to the beauty that emerges from hardship, and to the hope that Altadena will rise stronger than before.
Keni’s mission is to continue painting until Altadena remerges. His work will follow the changes of the landscape, as he chronicles not only the physical rebuilding but also the emotional healing of a community bound by history, culture, and a shared love for the land. Through his paintings, Keni aims to preserve the soul of Altadena—capturing both the legacy of what was and the promise of what is to come.
With every brushstroke, he breathes life back into a place that will be remembered not for tragedy, but for the resilience, beauty, and spirit that blossomed in its wake.
