Forever 50
Some people dream about being forever young, maybe 21. That’s until they reach 30 and realize how fortunate they were to have survived. 30 might be a better number to settle on.

I’ve been having ‘forever 50’ on my mind recently. Not 50 years old, although that would be a dream come true. I’ve been thinking about firing up once again my ‘Forever 50’ series of drawings. So I have.
Few things bring me as much joy as standing or sitting in front of an intriguing scene with paintbrush and a palette full of vibrant watercolors in hand.
Paint Kit Addition
I recently cleaned and refilled my fude nib fountain pen with water soluble sepia ink. I purchased a new water brush pen and once again included them as a part of my paint kit. The quick little monotone drawings I create with this simple setup bring me as much pleasure, though different, as my full palette watercolors.
I’m often asked, ‘How long did it take you to do this painting?’ My answer, “1 hour and 50 years.” Meaning, 50 years is how long it has taken me to complete a painting (in a style uniquely my own) in 1 hour, plus or minus a few minutes. So, if you’re accustomed to calculating the cost of my artwork compared to time to create it, don’t forget to include the many years I’ve devoted to my craft.
Sometimes I find myself in an office building or in a place where I know my time to capture a scene might be 10 minutes or less. I often have less than 1 minute. When I’m in a church service, my focus and attention is not on art. A quick sketch of a musician, the pastor or people will decorate my notes. Days, weeks or months later when I look at the drawing, it will refresh my memory, often bringing back details of words spoken or conversations had.
Forever $50
Drawings placed in this ‘Forever 50’ series will forever cost $50, regardless of inflation or rising gas prices.
If you’ve ever wanted an original work of art that’s very affordable, I believe the Forever 50 series is a good place to look.
Note: Only a few of the hundreds of drawings have been added In the store at this time. More to come.
My mom always said I was a cheap date. For my birthday I always wanted to go to Newberry’s lunch counter for a grill cheese and a chocolate malt. Yummy. In the early 60s it probably was pretty cheap. I love your Old Town in the Rain painting. Need to count my pennies and see if I have art money.
It has your name on it.
